For several months now, I have been unable to send Email from my business Email account. As many of you know, I am the owner of Escarpment Press, which is a publishing and consulting company whose goal is to assist authors in self publishing their work. I’ve been receiving lots of queries without a problem, but anything I send out bounces back with a MAILER-DAEMON@YAHOO.COM, 550:Request Failed message (whatever that means). The bottom line is that if I want to send an Email to someone regarding my business I have to use my private Email account. Then, of course, from that day forward, all of our correspondence is transacted via that account rather than through the business account. Not very professional.
So, you might ask, what does all of that have to do with change? Well, put quite simply, I finally broke down and created a new Email address for my business (that’s the “change”) and now I have a whole new set of problems. I wanted to Email all my clients to inform them of the new Email address, but, since there is no contact list associated with the new Email address, I have to re-enter all the Email contact information for all of my clients (okay, there aren’t that many, but enough to make it a big deal).
All of this comes on the heels of the move from North Carolina to South Carolina, which brought dozens of changes of its own in the form of new doctors, new banks, new TV and phone services, etc. I have had enough change to last me for a lifetime. When you couple that with the myriad of passwords necessary to navigate all the various websites one visits, is it any wonder that I titled this post the way I did?
So, for anyone interested in THE CHANGE, here is the NEW Email address for contacting me at Escarpment Press: email@example.com. At long last, I will be able to reply to queries without having my Emails bounce back. Go ahead, try it! Send me an Email. I’d love to hear from you—AND I’ll actually be able to reply . . . for a change!
